It's day 5 of the South Beach diet. The headaches have passed and I've been drinking lots of water and herbal teas. I never ever had a sweet tooth, never really eat desserts, biscuits etc...I occasionally eat ice-cream but my vice has always been rice, bread and pasta. Now that I can't eat any of those, I have a sudden sweet tooth. As a result, I've been making low carb cheese cake, which I've loved.
I've had some wobbles along the way. I eat a spoon full of rice yesterday, had ketchup one day on my omelet.
Today was my first day back at work and I stupidly did not organise myself very well.
I packed up some cheesecake and some lamb and veggies from the night before. When I got to work, I was hungry and only had the cheesecake so wolfed that down. My 10am, I was hungry again so rushed to the shop to get some cheese and a small pack of almonds. Unfortunately I eat the whole pack of almonds (450 calories) two plain yogurts, one cracker and cheese. Dinner was lamb and veggies. For some reason I was still unsatisfied and eat chicken and spinach. Now I'm stuffed. Lesson to self, eat slowly!
Energy wise, I've been okay. The first 3 days were tough and I have been jogging every day except for today.
I suppose one of the hard things about this diet is working in an office. I don't really eat breakfast immediately upon waking up, so breakfast of an omelet is hard to eat at work. Lunch has to be some sort of protien and I can't eat cold food so I have to warm up my food in order to eat it. I may try a chicken salad tomorrow.
This diet requires a lot of preparation and is expensive to sustain but I'll keep plugging away.
