Week 2 south beach diet

I crashed and burned in week two of this diet. At day 9, I stood on the scale and still had only lost 2lbs, so it was pretty much over from there. I've been eating like all the food in the world is about to finish and sampling every carb known to man.

I'm in Ghana right now, and finding myself eating out a lot - and if you know anything about African food, you'll know it's carb rich. I'm feeling very fat and unattractive.

I have to do better when I get home. Maybe I'll try a calorie counting diet and also start cycling 3 days a week to work. Something has to give because I can't keep on putting on weight. I think I need to accept the weight will drop off very slowly and this is something I've struggled to reconcile with. I want instant results, but they are not possible.

Day 7 of my South Beach diet

Yesterday I decided to weigh myself - just out of curiosity even though I told myself to wait until the end of day 7 but couldn't wait.

I was only down 2lbs! 2lb! how? It was like the most bitter blow I've had in a while. I've been jogging 5x during the week and being disciplined and yet only 2lbs.

Anyway, I knew it would be downhill from there. Got to work and by mid afternoon I needed some carbs. A colleague left some crackers on his desk and like the glutton I am, eat half the box. I tried to recover at lunch time and had a salad but failed by having a sweet chili dressing. Then for dinner I had lamb with bread.

I've managed to recover today though, so hopefully by week 2 I'll see some more results.

I suppose 2lbs a week isn't too bad so if I can maintain that level, then I should be down 16lbs by my finance's brother's wedding.

Day 5 South Beach diet

It's day 5 of the South Beach diet. The headaches have passed and I've been drinking lots of water and herbal teas. I never ever had a sweet tooth, never really eat desserts, biscuits etc...I occasionally eat ice-cream but my vice has always been rice, bread and pasta. Now that I can't eat any of those, I have a sudden sweet tooth. As a result, I've been making low carb cheese cake, which I've loved.

I've had some wobbles along the way. I eat a spoon full of rice yesterday, had ketchup one day on my omelet.

Today was my first day back at work and I  stupidly did not organise myself very well.
I packed up some cheesecake and some lamb and veggies from the night before. When I got to work, I was hungry and only had the cheesecake so wolfed that down. My 10am, I was hungry again so rushed to the shop to get some cheese and a small pack of almonds. Unfortunately I eat the whole pack of almonds (450 calories) two plain yogurts, one cracker and cheese. Dinner was lamb and veggies. For some reason I was still unsatisfied and eat chicken and spinach. Now I'm stuffed. Lesson to self, eat slowly!

Energy wise, I've been okay. The first 3 days were tough and I have been jogging every day except for today.

I suppose one of the hard things about this diet is working in an office. I don't really eat breakfast immediately upon waking up, so breakfast of an omelet is hard to eat at work. Lunch has to be some sort of protien and I can't eat cold food so I have to warm up my food in order to eat it. I may try a chicken salad tomorrow.

This diet requires a lot of preparation and is expensive to sustain but I'll keep plugging away.

First day with the South Beach diet

I haven't posted for a while because I have completely fallen off the wagon. I mean like completely. I was literally eating anywhere between 2 and 5,000 calories a day. Last week when I put on clothes that I'd bought to get me through my "fat period" they were too tight. I was so upset! It didn't stop me eating more food though. Thursday was my worst day and it was sort of my last binge before I decided to do something about my increased weight gain.

I'm 12st 5lbs ! My fiance's brother is getting married in June and I do not want to be the fat future daughter in law. I have to shift this weight!

Yesterday I started the south beach diet. Aside from the headache, and a little bit of insomnia I made it through the first day.
